Committed to Quality Home Repair
|
"Running a business that helps people turn their houses
into really enjoyable places to live is gratifying," says
Andrew Urban, the "husband" in Hire My Husband,
the locally-based handyman, household repair, maintenance
and painting service. "But it's the comments like 'Wow!'
when someone walks into a refurbished guest room,
or 'I couldn't have done this without you,' from a single
mom or elderly customer that really makes it worthwhile."
Qualified, reliable, prompt service.
Andrew and his wife Dawson established Hire My
Husband in 2002 and the business
has been growing steadily ever since. The couple
are sure it's their style of service that has allowed
them to grow their team to include a few other
"husbands" taking care of clients' needs.
"We listen," he says. "We show up on time, we leave
our work area clean, and we make sure the house is
livable even if we're coming back the next day. The
fact that we're working in someone's home is a really
important consideration. We try to be sensitive to the
people living there."
No job is too small.
The clients of Hire My Husband include Realtors, Property
Management Companies, and Homeowners Associations,
but their favorite customers are single women,
working couples, families with busy husbands, and elderly
couples.
Whether it's painting a room in a home or tackling the small but important tasks on
a typical "honey-do" list, the "husbands" tackle each with
enthusiasm. "We've even changed the light bulbs in a
garage door opener for one of our elderly clients, because
that's what they needed at the time."
"I guess we're doing something right," said Dawson. "Almost
half our work is repeat business. That's the thing about
'honey-do' lists -- when you've got someone you can count on, you can keep adding to them."
